Choose Your Class

Maniac

In Mafia Wars, energy is more valuable than money and the Maniac is able to regenerate energy faster than any other class. This can help you complete more jobs and thus level up faster than many other players. After all, energy allows you to complete jobs. Money can only buy equipment and properties for your portfolio, but with no energy to get jobs done, you’ll find it harder to level up fast.

The game creators, Zynga, tend to favor this class as it requires players to log in more frequently to get the most benefit out of playing a Maniac.

Mogul

Moguls generate money faster than most other classes. This can help you grow your mafia faster. You can buy them the best weapons, armor and vehicles, allowing them to defend you against attackers more effectively. You can also invest in properties and businesses, which generates even more income.

This can be the ideal class for players who know they can grow their mafia up to 501 members fast. As you don’t have the benefit of regenerating energy as quickly as a Maniac, collect energy packs for later use. You’ll need them.

Fearless

Fearless players recover health much quicker than other players. While this is considered a basically useless attribute, it can allow you to qualify for one of the top mafia positions that only a Fearless character can play: the Wheelman. A Wheelman is able to perform jobs at no energy cost, which can be incredibly useful for completing really high-energy jobs quickly.

If you can reach the status of Wheelman, you have the opportunity to perform jobs with no energy cost. This could be a massive bonus if you need to carry out jobs that require high energy.

This is somehow the opposite of the Maniac type, slow to level up at first, but can have the potential to acquire huge bonuses later in the game.

Managing your Mafia and Armaments

When it comes to managing your mafia, remember not to take any more than you can handle comfortably. Don’t keep adding new mafia members if you can’t afford to arm them with great weapons or equipment.

Performing Jobs

In order to keep moving through the levels, you’ll need to gain experience. Choose jobs with a high experience-to-energy ratio. There are times when you’ll need to build up your cash reserves, so choose jobs that yield the most money per amount of energy spent.

When there are loot celebration bonuses such as the Labor Day Loot, try to perform jobs that require less energy to give you an increased chance of getting the loot items.

Attacking

When attacking, choose players who have slightly less mafia than you currently have, unless you want to earn the Napoleon Complex Achievement. Attacking players with lesser mafia is almost a sure win.

Moreover, bookmark those players who yield more cash, so you could always get back to them when you need more money.

Defending

The best defense against attacking mobs is to equip your mafia with the best weapons you can afford. While it’s fine to retaliate against players who have attacked you, be careful to stay off the ‘hit list’, or you’ll find you get attacked more frequently than you would like.

Always bank your money. You could find you lose money during fights if you don’t leave your money in the bank. Players who think you’re giving out great cash for them will keep coming back to see what else they can get out of you.
